Since 2010, an expedition led by our faculty's Archaeology Department Chair, Assoc. Prof. Göksel Sazcı, has been conducted at the Maydos Kilisetepe Mound in the Eceabat district on behalf of the Turkish Ministry of Culture. In the 2023 season, scholars and students from the University of Tübingen in Germany are anticipated to join the team consisting of our university's faculty members and students. The excavation activities are expected to continue until mid-September, primarily focusing on exploring layers from the Bronze Age. Additionally, it has been planned that this season, new excavation areas are going to be opened on the side of the settlement facing the sea.
